Yesterday’s Sunday Times revealed its ‘Britain’s 500 Most Influential’ list.

Industry experts and leaders were appointed by Debrett’s and the Sunday Times to assemble selection committees within each category, the criteria for nominations included influence, achievement and the capacity to inspire.

“From sportsmen and women to musicians and writers, inventors and campaigners, they are the ones who give fresh stimulus to our thinking and lead by example as they show us what the combination of exceptional talent, unswerving dedication and sheer hard work can achieve.”

There is also a charitable aim behind the list – Debrett’s wants to use the influential people identified to help encourage social mobility in the UK and are launching a charitable foundation, tasking the 500 individuals named with mentoring and helping others.
