Verdon Roe Court
The new Verdon Roe Court Extra Care scheme replaces a former 1980s care home with a new 45 unit Extra Care facility, providing a modern environment for residents reflecting current best practice thinking and standards.
The design seeks to maximise the potential of the sloped south-facing site. The layout has been designed to ensure that all dwellings get maximum benefit from this favourable aspect.
A series of landscaped gardens and terraces ensure residents have access to a range of external spaces of varying character; a south facing terrace onto the neighbouring street allows for greater interaction between residents and the surrounding environment, main communal gardens offer a more private environment for residents to enjoy and an intimate easterly landscaped garden area with walking routes connecting into the main internal circulation areas of the building.
The massing has been carefully designed to maximise the potential of the site. A higher four storey element to the north of the site ensures that building has minimal impact on neighbouring properties, with a lower two storey element onto Flaxen Road allowing for sunlight to penetrate into the heart of the communal external spaces.
Designed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
