The SCORE Complex
The SCORE Complex is a unique combination of community, sports and healthcare provision under ‘one roof’, providing a new home for the Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme (LOCSP), a nationally acclaimed community sports outreach organisation. New community facilities, managed by O-Regen, include a 40 place nursery, an after school club, bookable meeting rooms and multi-purpose halls. On the first floor there is a local area health facility to provide clinical and community health services provided by the local Primary Care Trust.
The SCORE complex also includes a large indoor multi-use games centre designed to accommodate training facilities for the Olympic Handball Tournament in 2012. External sports facilities include a new floodlit all-weather football pitch, multi-use games area and a new all-weather surface bowls green, all set within a newly landscaped park.
Highly visible displays of energy consumption, photovoltaics, rainwater collection and extensive use of reclaimed materials inform building users of how this award winning environmental project achieves its low energy, low carbon status.
Heat and power is provided by a gas run CHP which increases the overall efficiency of fuel use from around 40% using conventional electricity generation to over 75%.
