The project is an exemplar of sustainable design for the University of the Arts London. Sustainable measures include north-south orientation, a high performance envelope, controlled natural ventilation, rain water harvesting and photo-voltaic solar collection. Linking the new building to a number of adjacent existing studios there is a canopy structure with much needed semi-outdoor storage below.

This zinc-clad building, within a Conservation Area achieved the second highest BREEAM score in the world at the design stage assessment.

The project has delivered top-of-the-range, professional facilities for our courses. Staff and students are both enjoying the new working environment which has opened up the possibilities for creating work both indoors and outdoors, providing a cohesive and considered resource centre. We are extremely pleased that this building has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating which reflects the work being done at Wimbledon to integrate issues of sustainability into the curriculum.
