Bristol Dementia Care
A new 69 bed care home for people living with dementia on the Greville site in south Bristol. This project by developer Ashley House in partnership with care provider Brunelcare supporting Bristol City Council’s Living Well with Dementia Strategy will create high quality living environments for people with a range of needs. The building is arranged to make best use of the site with well lit interior spaces and a series of enjoyable gardens while keeping well back from site edges and neighbouring residential properties.

The home is organised on two floors in a series of wings with clusters of 8-11 bedrooms, living rooms and quiet rooms. At the heart of the home is a shared area, known as the social and wellbeing centre, from which all of the wings can be accessed. Living dining areas are linked to adjoining clusters with shared kitchens. This arrangement allows each cluster to feel separate while making staff access and interaction easy to achieve. With the communal spaces placed at the entrance and the bedrooms beyond, each cluster will feel increasingly calm along the broad central circulation area with a quiet room as a destination at the end.
The new home has been designed to high standards of dementia care using the University of Stirling Dementia Design Audit Tool and is expected to achieve their Gold Standard.
The scheme will be BREEAM Excellent and exceed Bristol City Council standards for renewable energy provision.
