Mark Rowe
Principal

Mark is the embodiment of the Penoyre & Prasad ethos, thanks to the creativity and integrity that define the projects he leads. It’s down to his broad and layered architectural experience, which spans a wide spectrum of complex projects from landmark healthcare buildings and mixed-use/residential developments to financial headquarters, schools and retail. In footballing terms, Mark might be described as having both strength and depth.
Mark sees projects from his clients’ point of view. Successful developments aren’t just about designing buildings, they’re about preparing the ground for them – securing funding through PPPs or PFIs, private, public or PPP funding, setting out discovering and communicating a project’s vision, analysing the inherent risks and more. This early-stage, strategic approach means that both private and public sector projects get off to the right start – with ambitions and aspirations intact. It’s an innovative approach that’s resulted in award-winning work for University College London, the Olympic Development Authority, local authorities and private developers. His work can be seen in the UK, but also in the Middle East and in Russia.
Keen to share his experience and knowledge, Mark teaches and examines at both the University of Westminster and the London Metropolitan University. He also works as a certified Quality Indicator (DQI) Facilitator and has accepted invitations to speak at a variety of conferences across the world from Canada to China.
Away from the practice, Mark chairs the NLA Expert Panel for Healthcare and chairs a Regional Board and Finance Committee for the Reach2 Multi Academy Trust, providing governance and oversight to twenty schools in the South East. He has recently completed the Passivhaus Institute’s Certified Designer programme augmenting his experience of helping clients achieve low or zero carbon outcomes. He’s also devoted to his family… and his season ticket at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
