The New QEII Hospital at Welwyn Garden City received a Commendation at the Civic Trust Awards on Friday 10th March, bringing the total award wins or commendations to eight for this project.

The New QEII Hospital is one of a new generation of NHS local hospitals aimed at keeping key hospital functions close to communities while moving specialist acute and in-patient care to fewer larger centres.

The prestigious Civic Trust Awards is the longest standing architectural & built environment awards scheme in Europe, recognising the very best in architecture, urban design, planning, landscape, public realm and public art. Successful projects make an outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment and must be universally inclusive for all users, whilst offering a positive social, cultural, environmental or economic benefit to the local community.
