Mark Rowe, Partner at Penoyre & Prasad spoke at the European Healthcare Design conference at the Royal College of Physicians, London, on Monday 12th June.
Mark’s joint talk, with Louisa Williams of Art in Site, and Jacqui Bunce of the NHS, discussed how they integrated architecture and art at the multiple award winning New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. The building has been very well received by patients, visitors and staff. It has fulfilled the ambitions of the Care Commissioning Group and their development partner Assemble, to create an architecturally distinguished, sustainable and healing environment out of the reorganisation of healthcare services locally.
The European Healthcare Design conference is organised by Architects for Health and SALUS Global Knowledge Exchange. The congress observes a whole system approach to understanding how to redesign European health systems and services through the exchange of knowledge, research and international best practice on the relationship between health service and system design, technology and the built environment.
