Our very own star baker, Kate Edmondson, is representing Penoyre & Prasad in this year’s London Festival of Architecture Bake Off.

The Architecture Bake Off has been a key part of the London Festival of Architecture for many years. Each year London’s leading architecture practices have competed fiercely against each other, bringing together their architects to design and bake some of London’s best-loved buildings – in cake form. This year’s Bake Off returns in digital form to allow more people to bake and create from home.

Entrants had one week to bake one of five buildings announced by the LFA related to this year’s theme of Power. Kate chose No1 Poultry from the list:

  • St Paul’s Cathedral – Christopher Wren
  • Colour Palace – Yinka Ilori & PriceGore
  • Palace of Westminster / Houses of Parliament – Charles Barry
  • No1 Poultry – James Stirling
  • Battersea Power Station – Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and renovated by WilkinsonEyre

Kate said: “Any excuse to combine architecture and baking! I find the process of baking calming and I enjoy sharing/eating my creations. I chose no.1 Poultry for its 90s power and icon status. It reminds me of battenburg cake, with those stripy layers and lots of playful elements. It’s all edible and no nuts were harmed in the making of this!”

The Bake Off entries will help the LFA raise money for NHS Charities Together. Register here to join the live announcement of the winners on 11 June.
