The University of Kent held a ‘topping out’ ceremony for the Kent Business School and School of Mathematics, Statistics & Actuarial Science on 20th April, exactly a year on from the start of construction.

The ceremony was performed in glorious sunshine by Denise Everitt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent, at the end of a tour of the building site and an introduction by Penoyre & Prasad’s Ian Goodfellow.

It was a great occasion, marking an exciting milestone in the project, with speakers from the University and the main contractor, Willmott Dixon, roundly praising Penoyre & Prasad’s ‘inspirational’ design.

The new £27m building is located towards the northern edge of the Canterbury campus and will create a vibrant new campus destination, allowing two of the University’s most successful departments to expand and improve their current activities. It will bring academics, students, researchers and administrative staff together to create an environment that actively fosters engagement between the students and staff bodies within the two schools.
