The new Kantor Centre of Excellence for the Anna Freud Centre was officially opened this morning by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess, who is Patron of the Anna Freud Centre, also visited the Pears Family School, founded by the Anna Freud Centre and part of the same new campus.

The pioneering new school and supporting services will help transform the lives of children, young people and families with mental health problems. Located on a restricted central London site near King’s Cross, it will be the first national centre for children and young people’s mental health in England and represents an exciting new era for the Anna Freud Centre charity, bringing together the best in research, policy and practice under one roof.

Mark Rowe, Partner at Penoyre & Prasad said “We met HRH on this same site in 2017 to explain and discuss AFC’s vision for the new campus before construction started, and it feels fitting that she has returned to see its realisation now that the Anna Freud Centre and the Pears Family School are helping to change young peoples lives for the better from within their new home.”

AFC Chief Executive and Psychologist Professor Peter Fonagy recalled his own story in The Guardian earlier this week.
