Penoyre & Prasad’s work on the extension & renovation of Templeman Library using BIM software ArchiCAD was awarded ‘Public Sector Project of the Year’ at the Graphisoft ArchiCAD ceremony on 25th May.
This is one of the first Penoyre & Prasad projects constructed using BIM from outset to completion. The building was collaboratively designed with both the consultant design team and the client team, using the BIM model as the main co-ordination tool. The virtual model is a very close representation of the built form and as such was used extensively for client engagement visualisations as well as detailed construction output. This enabled production of the sculptural facade elements of precast concrete fins co-ordinated with the curtain walling and the primary structural elements.
Adrian Girling, Managing Director of Graphisoft UK said:
“Public Sector Project of the Year was a highly contested category but the judges felt the Templeman Library to be the most complete scheme from its final form and the accompanying documentation. The judges were particularly impressed with Penoyre & Prasad’s use of the ARCHICAD model as a communication medium at all stages of the design and documentation process with the end result creating a significant asset for the client.”
