Co-design and co-creation have accrued real meaning at the scale of a product or a service, a building or an estate. They are enabled through tools that have been developed. But in plan-making at city-scale we still only consult; and that rarely amounts to participation or collaboration, let alone co-creation.
At our Green Sky Thinking breakfast this year we will explore how individuals and communities together with professionals and authorities might co-create a plan for an area, a city or a neighbourhood, with all its complex and often contradictory implications. What new and emergent skills are needed? Is it anyway more a matter of attitude than skill? What new possibilities might open up if there was real co-creation in the planning system?
