Crawley Library designed by Penoyre & Prasad was announced as overall winner of the West Sussex Design and Sustainability awards 2009.

West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Economy Deborah Urquhart said: “We received a record number of applications for this year’s awards. The standard has been excellent, making it a difficult decision for judges to choose the winners.”

County Council Leader Henry Smith said: “I’d like to congratulate all the winners, and those who were highly commended. These awards are a chance to celebrate the architectural quality and character of West Sussex buildings. I was particularly delighted that Crawley Library, our most sustainable and environmentally friendly library, won the overall top prize.”
