The Sibson Building at the University of Kent has been shortlisted for a Concrete Society Award.
Sibson houses the University’s Business and Maths departments in a highly sustainable concrete framed building. Using concrete enables long term adaptability for the University. Concrete construction is celebrated emphatically in the main concourse and in lecture theatres where giant hand-like structures with tapering fingers span dramatically overhead.
Judges will now visit the project and take into account such factors as visual impression and integration with the surrounding landscape, functional suitability, concrete properties exploited in the design, innovation in concrete composition, structure or form, execution and finish, sustainability credentials client satisfaction and value for money.
Winners will be announced at a special 50th celebration of The Concrete Society Awards on Wednesday 21st November 2018.
