The Pavilion, part of a family of buildings making up the David Ross Education Trust’s new all-through Bobby Moore Academy, won the Building ‘Small Project of the Year (up to £5m)’ Award on 5th November 2019.

Located in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium, it forms an iconic beacon at the junction of a new bridge from Hackney Wick and Loop Road, despite its small size.

The Pavilion shares its architectural expression with the adjacent Primary School and the nearby Secondary School. The innovative architecture skilfully reconciles the conflicting requirements of the brief to create a prominent public facing building out of a small changing room block. The aesthetic of the building clearly identifies it as part of the family of Bobby Moore Academy buildings, while giving it a unique identity and expression, resulting in a fun and lively addition to the Olympic Park.

Building Awards recognise and celebrate the very best of UK construction. Projects are judged on design, sustainability, innovation, construction performance, procurement and team work with the client.
