Ian Goodfellow of Penoyre & Prasad and Rajat Gupta of the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development have co-written a case study of Crawley Library, a major new civic building designed by Penoyre & Prasad in 2008.
Designed for sustainability and comfort, the building has a high thermal mass, controlled daylighting, a sophisticated mixed mode ventilation system and a biomass boiler. From the start the design has been developed following best practice sustainability principles and still outperforms best practice.
Better Buildings shows, through essays and illustrated case studies, how to observe building performance in-use, and provides architects with the inspiration and tools they need to deliver truly sustainable design.
