Penoyre & Prasad have been selected to join bptw’s design team to design and deliver a major mixed-use regeneration scheme for The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea on a prominent site in North Kensington. The project will provide two new school buildings and a residential scheme to develop the Treverton and part of the Burleigh Estate adjoining Ladbroke Grove.
Key to the proposal are plans to redevelop and expand the popular Barlby Primary School to a two-form entry school and to build the Borough’s first Special School, specifically designed to meet the needs of young people with Severe Learning Difficulties including autism. The two schools will be located in a single new building that offers the mutual benefit of shared services whist maintaining independent and autonomous learning facilities. They will be cross funded by the sale of new private homes on the wider development site.
Penoyre & Prasad will be leading on the design and delivery of the new schools, due to open in September 2018.
