The new Integrated Care Services Hub will bring together a number of services under one roof to provide 80-bed nursing home care and a day centre for elderly people including dementia care, respite and ‘step up-step down’ facilities, and office space for the Authority team.
The Integrated Care Services Hub has been designed within a wider masterplan for this 9ha site in Hebburn, South Tyneside which will also provide Supported Living and general needs housing, all in a well established landscape setting. The Hub building is formed around a large secure courtyard garden. At the front of the building an active ‘Heart’ area will welcome residents, staff and visitors in a café environment. This space is backed up by a number of multifunctional rooms visible like ‘shop fronts’ opening onto the Heart area, which will provide for a variety of services.
The surrounding landscape will be accessible, therapeutic and productive, providing residents and care service users with active involvement in this well established existing landscape and ecology.
