North Deal is a priority area for regeneration investment following closure of the East Kent coal fields. Research has shown that the area has a significant need for housing and extra community facilities.
The site is a former gas works being one of the few available sites for new development. Dover District Council and the North Deal Community Partnership are working together with SEEDA to make sure the development meets everyone’s requirements and needs.
The masterplan includes the provision of 65 new houses and flats together with a new community centre, providing a medical centre, dental practice, pharmacy, nursery and a range of facilities for community groups.
The masterplan forms a new community around a central square to provide the new residents and the wider community with a pleasant open space.
The masterplan has been designed in response to the surrounding neighbourhood with its mixture of different size and shaped buildings from diverse eras.
