A new build and refurbishment project providing workspace together with clinical, research and training facilities for the Anna Freud Centre charity, as well as teaching space for The Family School, a new specialist school for children with mental health problems and their families.
This new centre of excellence will bring together the best people and organisations in neuroscience, mental health and education to work directly with children and their families. The vision for the centre is that it will be a knowledge hub and community, developing new treatments, interventions and approaches informed by the most recent scientific discoveries to deliver better mental health services on a local, national and international level.
Located on a tight central London site near King’s Cross, the new building will extend the existing chocolate factory warehouse with a building rising up to three storeys at the back and up to 5 storeys at the front of the site along the street. Existing and new floorspace on upper levels will be connected by a full site covering open-plan ground floor, comprising shared and communal facilities such as a café, a library, a conference centre and hot-desking workstations.
Several roof terraces at different levels will provide recreational outdoor space for staff and visitors and outdoor learning space for the school.
