Ian Goodfellow, who worked with Geoffrey Bawa in 1994, was recently invited to review David Robson & Sebastian Posingis’ latest book, ‘In Search of Bawa – Master Architect of Sri Lanka’.

Bawa’s highly successful career spanned 40 years. He received the Aga Kahn Lifetime Achievement award in 2001, shortly before he died in 2003.

It was Bawa’s belief that architecture can never be fully understood through words alone; he believed architecture needed to be experienced. The case studies of his surviving built projects are arranged geographically in this guidebook, as a series of ‘circuits’ to be travelled.
