The Higher Education Design Quality Forum’s 1st Annual Conference will take place on 16th June in Manchester this year.

This one day conference, with the theme of ‘the University and the City’, is part of the HEDQF’s activities to promote quality of design in Higher Education.

Universities and the cities in which they are located are partners in cultural, social, and economic success and universities are major long-term investors in their cities, often acting as the catalyst for other regeneration initiatives. This conference is organised together with the Manchester School of Architecture, which is part of both Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University and is located in The Corridor, a unique business location in 243 acres at the heart of Manchester’s knowledge economy, the largest academic campus in the UK and the largest clinical academic campus in Europe.

HEDQF was established around 20 years ago as an initiative of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to have a stronger understanding of issues affecting its clients and to promote high quality design in university buildings and estates. Its membership is balanced with representatives from HEI’s and from the design and construction professionals.
